We are excited to be attending Microsoft Ignite this year! It’s always a challenge to figure out which sessions to attend, especially with all of the fun events planned and exhibitors touting their solutions (including us this year – booth #1757 so stop by!), so here are some of our picks of the Azure security sessions to check out while you’re there:
- Simplify hybrid cloud protection with Microsoft Azure Security Center (BRK3201). This session is going to focus on new capabilities with Azure Security Center, including multi-cloud support. OMS has collected logs from VMs running in multiple clouds for some time now, but it will be interesting to learn more about what ASC can do to help protect your workloads running on other cloud platforms. This is one of the key reasons companies come to us for help protecting their multi-cloud and hybrid environments because we can help centralize the security monitoring with our tool set, versus managing multiple tool sets. While you may still benefit from working with a managed security service like Alert Logic, you may want to check out this session to understand what capabilities ASC offers—especially with their free tier.
- Enterprise security in practice (MVP breakout) (THR3067). It is always valuable to hear from MVPs who are working with customers on the front line in redefining their security strategies as they move to cloud. Many organizations are focused on replicating the same posture that is deployed on-premises, and miss out on new best practices that leverage native capabilities included with Microsoft Azure. You may also want to check out any Microsoft IT Showcase sessions to learn more about how Microsoft’s IT organization uses their solutions to protect Microsoft assets (which also happen to be one of the most targeted platforms by bad actors worldwide).
- Network security for applications on Microsoft Azure (BRK4019). Applications are the number one attack vector for cloud environments, and you can limit your exposure by limiting access to your applications by properly configuring your cloud networks. This session should help you avoid common mistakes.
- Lessons learned from the Azure Stack Early Adoption Initiative (BRK2143). Microsoft has differentiated itself from other leading cloud providers by offering Azure in your datacenter via the Azure Stack. This will be a great session to learn more about how organizations deployed the Azure Stack successfully, and where they saw the most benefit. There are several sessions covering the capabilities available with Azure Stack, but we would recommend attending this one so you can ask your specific questions and better understand whether this is the right deployment solution for your applications and services.
- Take Control of Your Compliance Requirements with the Microsoft Service Trust Platform (BRK2182). Finally, Microsoft has secured several accreditations for popular industry and sovereign government compliance mandates, reducing your costs and responsibility for implementing the controls or solutions to meet these requirements because they are automatically included as part of Microsoft services. This session will help you understand how you can understand which requirements are met automatically, and which controls you are still responsible for implementing. There are several resources available as part of the Microsoft Trust Center, and this is a great forum for you to ask your questions on how you can speed up your audits by leveraging Microsoft technologies.
