E-Recruiting Secured
Intrusion Detection for Tomorrow’s Workforce

Headquartered in Dubai, Cazar develops and markets their Sniperhire e-recruitment platform and professional services throughout Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Organizations rely on Cazar to help them streamline the entire hiring cycle, from candidate marketing and applicant tracking (ATS) to onboarding. Cazar enables employers to use a variety of online channels and well-branded candidate touch points, such as dedicated careers websites, to encourage recruitment of the best candidates.

The Challenge

Cazar’s number one priority is ensuring data integrity for their customers. With major clients across multiple industries, such as PWC, Dubai Airports, and Qatar Airways, security is highly valued in their data storage solutions, platforms, and websites.

With Rackspace hosting their datacenter, Cazar handles over 50 million users a year. With this volume of data running through their SaaS offering, they realized they needed to ensure their systems were protected against potential network threats and compromises.

Finding the right security and compliance expertise required thorough research of several security solutions on the market. Mohammed Owais, Chief Technology Officer turned to Rackspace for advice on the best security solution to meet their needs. Rackspace introduced them to Alert Logic’s Security-as-a-Service solution and the 24x7 Alert Logic ActiveWatch team.

The human element is critical and valuable to us. For example, when we see something unusual via the Alert Logic portal, we have the ability to ask someone: What do you think? What should we do about this? How could we manage this situation better in the future? To me, this is a big thing and in a way, this visibility is leading to our increased understanding of network security.

Why Alert Logic?

Cazar saw two major benefits of Alert Logic’s Security-as-a-Service solution:

  1. Solution Integration: Alert Logic’s solutions and managed services seamlessly integrate with Rackspace, allowing Cazar to meet their security and compliance requirements without the need for major adjustments. Not only does the team gain expert insight from Alert Logic’s Security Operations Center, but now has a security solution that is as flexible and scalable as their core business.
  2. Comprehensive intrusion detection: Owais saw the importance of proactive security, especially at the network level. For Cazar, the choice was clear to use Alert Logic Threat Manager, a fully managed intrusion detection system that monitors network traffic and identifies suspicious activity. These activities are analyzed further by the Alert Logic ActiveWatch team to detect emerging threats and to notify the Cazar team on remediation steps. Owais adds, “Without this level of service, I would need to have two people from my team dedicated to the continuous monitoring of security threats. Now, I have Alert Logic experts calling to let me know about an issue and providing recommendations on what to do with it.”

The Results

Because Cazar produces intellectual property, running and securing their datacenter is essential. To that end, Cazar recognized the value of Alert Logic almost immediately after implementation. The team anticipated threat detection but was astonished by the number of threats identified and the rate at which they came. Thousands of attacks were thwarted and response plans were put in place.

“The human element is critical and valuable to us. For example, when we see something unusual via the Alert Logic portal, we have the ability to ask someone: What do you think? What should we do about this? How could we manage this situation better in the future?
