Fully managed IDS provides common security controls in multiple cloud environments
HOUSTON, TX – May 21, 2013 – Alert Logic (www.alertlogic.com),the leading provider of Security-as-a-Service solutions for the cloud, today announced the next generation release of Threat Manager, the first fully managed threat management solution deployable in any elastic cloud infrastructure. This release of Threat Manager enables customers to deploy network security in any cloud environment – irrespective of hypervisor and networking architecture – and still identify threats found in all network traffic, including VM-to-VM traffic.
Alert Logic Threat Manager is a Security-as-a-Service solution for monitoring customer environments, as well as detecting external and internal threats. Its intrusion detection and vulnerability scanning capabilities address key elements of PCI DSS, HIPAA/HITECH, GLBA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other mandates. With today’s release, Alert Logic Threat Manager can deliver fully managed network intrusion detection system (IDS) services in any public or private cloud environment with support for autoscaling instances, VM-to-VM traffic monitoring, automation and APIs to integrate into cloud orchestration systems, including OpenStack.
Customers who have deployed infrastructures in multiple cloud environments can achieve a common and unified view of their security controls across all of their cloud environments using this new version of the Threat Manager product. And when paired with Alert Logic’s ActiveWatch service, the latest release of Threat Manager provides customers a 360-degree view of their total infrastructure and 24×7 security monitoring. In the upcoming months, Alert Logic will be working with the leading Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) providers to rapidly deploy this new release of Threat Manager, delivering on Alert Logic’s vision of providing a common set of security controls across the broadest set of cloud environments.
“It doesn’t matter where a customer’s infrastructure resides. Threat Manager can now provide a unified view,” said Dave Colesante, senior vice president of product development and CTO with Alert Logic. “For the first time, customers don’t have to commit to a massive investment in multiple solutions and additional staff in order to gain a global view of the threats impacting their entire infrastructure.” Threat Manager leverages Alert Logic’s patented expert system, driven by global threat data, to identify potential problems for Alert Logic analysts to investigate. When Alert Logic Threat Manager detects an incident, Alert Logic’s ActiveWatch service provides expert guidance from its Security Operations Center (SOC), staffed around the clock by Alert Logic security analysts.
As described in the recent Alert Logic State of Cloud Security Report, Spring 2013, this system is used to observe billions of security events annually, and verify tens of thousands of security threats that require a response. Alert Logic’s Security-as-a-Service solutions provide customers four distinct advantages: market-leading security tools, a fully outsourced and managed SaaS delivery model, integrated 24×7 Security Operations Center (SOC) services to monitor and provide expert guidance, and the ability to deploy wherever a customer has IT infrastructure, including the cloud.
