Alert Logic helps clckwrk secure business critical Oracle applications running on Amazon Web Services

Alert Logic Intrusion Detection and Log Management capabilities improve Oracle business application security in the cloud for clckwrk customers

London, UK – 5 August 2014 – UK based IT consultancy and specialty cloud hosting company, clckwrk Limited, has selected Alert Logic’s managed Security-as-a-Service solutions to secure Oracle applications it hosts on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. clckwrk is using Alert Logic Threat Manager for managed intrusion detection and vulnerability scanning, as well as Alert Logic Log Manager for improved auditing, compliance and forensics. Applications like Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Business Intelligence tools that are hosted by clckwrk in the AWS cloud (along with business critical data), are now secured by Alert Logic, using a unique combination of people and proprietary technology delivered as a 24×7 managed service, to ensure clckwrk’s critical business data is protected in the cloud.

Clckwrk started out as a consulting firm focused on helping customize Oracle applications against specific customer needs, but soon recognized the need for Oracle applications to be available as a service so that customers could leverage the functionality of Oracle technology without all the infrastructure set up costs. To allow customers total flexibility and control over their Oracle applications, clckwrk hosts them in the AWS cloud, which already delivers a secure foundation along with many built-in security features. For clients with a short-term project, wanting to prototype something new, or looking for cost savings and more flexibility, being able to leverage the cloud is ideal. Instead of spending time buying, renting and then recycling equipment, the cloud lets them quickly and affordably access what they need, when they need it. With the cloud, like other IT environments, becoming an increasingly attractive target for hackers, clckwrk also knows it has a deeper security obligation to customers running their business critical applications and data there, especially with data security compliance issues to consider.

Clckwrk’s business development director, James Ball, knew that some clients would need additional security layers; and with AWS completely transparent about the fact that clckwrk was responsible for securing any applications and data running in its cloud, Ball knew he had to find a specialist security partner. “Given we were building our business on AWS and are an approved AWS consulting partner, one of our most important criteria was finding a security partner equally committed to AWS,” Ball said. “We found Alert Logic on the AWS Marketplace and after comparing Alert Logic intrusion detection and log management solutions with other vendors’ products, we selected Alert Logic based on capability, quick time to deploy and cost. It’s also a managed service, which fits our needs perfectly.”

Alert Logic Threat Manager with ActiveWatch and Alert Logic Log Manager with LogReview provide clckwrk with intrusion detection for network protection and log management for auditing, compliance and forensics delivered as a managed service, which means that clckwrk can offer its customers a high quality security service without having to use their own staff resources. “We couldn’t be more pleased that clckwrk has chosen Alert Logic Threat Manager and Alert Logic Log Manager to secure its AWS cloud environment,” said David Howorth, Vice President of EMEA at Alert Logic. “clckwrk delivers a highly individual and unique service to clients who want to use Oracle applications in the cloud and we are delighted to help it give its customers a secure cloud experience.” “It’s tremendous value for our clients to receive the cost, flexibility and time-to-market advantages of the cloud and still have peace of mind that their applications and data are completely secure with Alert Logic,” concluded Ball.
