With the Grammy Awards behind us and the SAG Awards ahead, now is the perfect time to give attention to an additional accolade: the awards for achievement in cybersecurity. It may seem absurd, but somehow enormous audiences will get drawn into wondering who will win Best Actor without giving attention to the awards for who is protecting their data assets, where they actually have some skin in the game.
The Cybersecurity Excellence Awards may not get the ratings the Oscars receive, but perhaps they should. They honor the companies, products, and professionals that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and leadership in information security.
Winners were selected based on the strength of their nomination as well as the popular vote by members of the Information Security Community. This year, Alert Logic was named the winner in the Managed Detection and Response category. As a pioneering SaaS-enabled MDR provider, Alert Logic was recognized for eliminating barriers faced by organizations that may not have the resources or expertise to effectively manage their security needs. Customers come to Alert Logic for an MDR solution that provides coverage everywhere, simplifies the experience, and continually innovates to address threats through technology and human intelligence, and this award serves as a validation of their choice.
In another red carpet venue for the cybersecurity world, the 2021 SC Awards honor the best in U.S. cybersecurity. Alert Logic MDR has been named an Excellence Award finalist in the Best SME Security Solution Category. This award recognizes the unique challenges resource-strapped small and medium enterprises face in their efforts to protect assets against cyber threats — Alert Logic’s sweet spot. Now, in its 24th year, the SC Awards are the industry gold standard of accomplishment for cybersecurity professionals, products, and services. Winners in the Excellence category are determined by an expert panel of judges with extensive experience in the cybersecurity industry. The winners will be revealed May 3-7, and we encourage everyone to tune in.
These awards serve to highlight the importance of pulling in industry expertise to help fill the gaps for resource-strapped businesses. As Karen D. Schwartz noted in her recent article for ITProToday on the challenge of securing cloud services:
“83% of IT leaders with in-house security teams are considering outsourcing security efforts to a managed services provider (MSP) this year.”
In an interview with Schwartz, Alert Logic CTO and COO, Onkar Birk, spoke of the importance of covering detection capabilities for scenarios before, during, and after breach:
“Strategically think about your environment and how it all comes together. That’s the best way to ensure that the cloud security services provider you choose will meet your needs.”
Excellent advice. It may be a good time for Onkar to begin drafting his next acceptance speech.
