With the Grammy Awards behind us and the SAG Awards ahead, now is the perfect time to give attention to an additional accolade: the awards for achievement in cybersecurity. It may seem absurd, but somehow enormous audiences will get drawn into wondering who will win Best Actor without giving attention to the awards for who is protecting their data assets, where they actually have some skin in the game.
The Cybersecurity Excellence Awards may not get the ratings the Oscars receive, but perhaps they should. They honor the companies, products, and professionals that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and leadership in information security.
Winners were selected based on the strength of their nomination as well as the popular vote by members of the Information Security Community. These awards serve to highlight the importance of pulling in industry expertise to help fill the gaps for resource-strapped businesses. As Karen D. Schwartz noted in her recent article for ITProToday on the challenge of securing cloud services:
